How we partner

Three ways SAMI engages.

Every engagement starts with your challenge, not our service menu. We identify the right model, bring the right expertise, and stay in the partnership until results are delivered.

01
Core offering
Materials Development Partnerships

We embed alongside your R&D team as an advanced materials partner — from materials selection and process development through qualification and scale-up. We bring the science. You bring the product vision.

02
Supporting capability
Analytical Intelligence

When your development process needs deep characterization — trace elemental, surface chemistry, depth profiling, or structural analysis — we bring the right technique, interpret the results, and translate them into development decisions.

03
Defense & federal
Defense Industry Partnerships

We partner with defense contractors and primes to solve hard materials problems — advanced coatings, detector materials, nuclear fuel, and structural materials — and support SBIR and DoD program engagement as a technical partner, not a paperwork consultant.

Industries we serve

Where the hardest materials
problems live.

We focus on industries where materials science is the difference between a product that works and one that doesn't — and where getting it right has real consequences.

Semiconductors
Wafer purity · Process contamination · Trace impurity · Next-gen device materials
🫀
Medical Devices
Biocompatible materials · Surface treatment · Implant coatings · Regulatory-grade analysis
Aerospace
Turbine coatings · Structural materials · Corrosion resistance · Defense-grade qualification
Battery Technology
Li-ion polymer · Solid-state electrolytes · Electrode materials · Safety analysis
Hydrogen & Solar
H₂ production materials · Fuel cell components · Photovoltaic materials · Catalyst development
More sectors coming — including advanced ceramics, nuclear materials, and quantum device substrates.
The partner difference

What makes a development partner
different from a testing lab.

🎯
We start with your challenge
Not a service menu. Every SAMI engagement begins by understanding your specific materials problem, product goal, or development milestone — then we design the right approach.
🔬
Decades of industrial science
Our team brings 25–35 years of hands-on industrial experience — not academic theory. We have worked on production problems, product failures, and breakthrough materials across six industry sectors.
📋
Answers, not raw data
We interpret every result in the context of your development goal. You receive expert guidance — not a spreadsheet of numbers to figure out on your own.
🤝
Long-term partnership mindset
The most valuable materials expertise comes from understanding your product, your process, and your goals over time. SAMI is built for sustained partnership, not one-off transactions.
Science shouldn't be blocked
by access.

Every R&D team encounters complex materials problems. Sometimes the answer is available. Sometimes it isn't — even after months of searching. Sometimes the right expertise exists but lives behind the walls of a large laboratory with a long queue and a standard report format.

SAMI was founded to close that gap. We bring the deep materials science expertise of industrial PhD-level scientists directly into your development process — as a partner who is invested in your outcome, not just completing a test order.

"The need for new materials, new technical know-how, and new products will stay for all times to come. We exist to help our partners get there."

Analytical capabilities

The tools we bring
to every partnership.

Our analytical capabilities are not products — they are instruments in our development toolkit, selected and applied based on what your materials challenge actually requires.

NAA
Neutron Activation Analysis
Trace elemental detection to sub-ppb. No sample preparation. The only practical method for insoluble polymers and ceramics.
XPS
X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy
Surface chemistry and chemical bonding state. Distinguishes metallic from oxidized, organic from inorganic — quantitatively.
SEM/EDS
Scanning Electron Microscopy
High-resolution imaging paired with elemental mapping. Essential for failure analysis and morphological characterization.
SIMS
Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry
Depth profiling to 20–30 microns with elemental specificity. Critical for thin film and coating development.
RBS
Rutherford Backscattering
Non-destructive near-surface composition. Film thickness, stoichiometry, and heavy element detection.
ICP-MS
Inductively Coupled Plasma MS
Ultra-trace elemental detection in solution. ppb to ppt sensitivity across most of the periodic table.
